OUR FAMILY NEEDS YOUR HELP!

We are reaching out now because Rice Eventide needs YOUR  help. Keeping residents, staff and family members safe during a global pandemic has been the #1 priority of Dwyer Home and Fairing Way. We're very proud of our track record and safety protocols. Our staff especially have been true heroes on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19.

And yet, this has been the most challenging time we have faced since Rice Eventide opened our doors as a community-based nonprofit almost 100 years ago. We have been deeply financially impacted by the COVID-19 safety mandates set forth by the Department of Public Health. We have needed to substantially increase the volume of medical supplies we purchase to keep our residents and staff safe. Those financial impacts have also included an increase in overtime due to staffing shortages, and having to bring more agency nurses in to keep our residents healthy and safe. We continue to adapt our policies and practices as needed to keep our community safe from the highly contagious Delta variant.

We need your help to ensure we can continue to do the best possible job keeping those in our community safe!

Right now, our goal is to raise $500,000 to cover the ongoing pandemic expenses. We want to be sure we're always able to protect the community, and are ready for whatever comes next. Our aim moving forward is to raise at least an additional million dollars in the next year to help us protect the souls in our community, and to expand the reach of who we are able to serve.

We greatly appreciate your support as we approach our Centennial Celebration in 2024. Please share this link with family and friends as well. Every donation helps!

THE FUNDS RAISED WILL HELP US:

  • Keep our residents, staff and family members safe during the pandemic, which is our #1 priority, and keep up with the pandemic-related expenses and costs.
  • Keep care affordable for our lower-income residents at Dwyer Home by covering the “Medicaid gap” in the daily cost for care.

  • Expand supportive services to help our independent living residents at Fairing Way age in place, thus giving more middle-income seniors access to affordable care.

  • Continue our mission of enhancing dignity, respect and independence for seniors, as we have for nearly a century.

A Century of Caring

Almost 100 years ago, Dr. Elmon Johnson of Quincy Hospital along with a group of dedicated volunteers founded the original William B. Rice Eventide Home on Adams Street in Quincy, MA. The beautiful grounds were donated by Emma Louise Rice, the widow of prominent shoe manufacturer William B. Rice. The Rice family shared Dr. Johnson’s vision that all seniors deserve a safe, comfortable home and top-quality, affordable care. Their vision for community-centered senior care laid the foundation for our vital work today.

When my parents needed care, I trusted Dwyer Home to provide the skilled nursing care they needed in an elegant, clean, beautiful environment. My family trusts Rice Eventide and now the Rice Eventide family needs YOUR help.
